About gre-success
This is a group for all GRE and Graduate Studies aspirants who want to pursue either a Masters or a Ph.D. in the USA. Recently, due to the surge of interest in higher education in countries other than USA, our discussions do include Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and so on.

The primary objective of the group is to allay any fears you might have, and set you free from rumours, ignorance and any other wrong notions you might carry.

We are a closely knit community and invite you to come and join us...

NOTE: We do not endorse or allow commercial services to advertise or participate in group discussions.

Myth Busters:

Myth 1: In the AWA essay, always write for the "con".

Fact: The AWA is scored based on multiple factors. Writing for the "con" is definitely not one of them.

Hi all, This is Bala. I have been a silent member in this group. I wanted to apply for the Fall 2010 to US universities for MS but it was too late for me to prepare for GRE, since it was Oct already. So, later I finished of with my TOEFL this year and got 109. Meantime I just applied to UKs universities thinking I will decide on them if any offers come in the way. But now since I have got the offers, I am confused. Hence I need some help from you. I applied to about 12 universities and I have got +ve response from 7, others yet to come. Of 7 the following 5 are in the Top 5 slot of UK. University of Edinburgh: MSc in Communications University of Leeds: MSc in Wireless Comm University of Glasglow: MSc in Communications Engg. University of Southampton: MSc in Wireless. Others offers are from East London University, Robert Gordon University University of Hull These MSc courses are being called MSc by taught courses. And their duration is one year only (Phds are of 3yrs here). Now the thing is that I am not sure whether UK is good for doing MS, whether these courses do have the same value as that of MS in US. So I need you guys opinion in this regard, whether doing Masters in UK is OK or is US still the option to go for. Whether these courses have values(I am bit worried since MSc here is just a 1year course) and what about the job prospects in UK. Do we get decent offers after doing them? I am OK with either options since I don’t want to just hurry blindly. So please feel free to give me your opinion. I am very badly in need of it. Thanks, Bala Get your preferred Email name! hey guys, great work going on... I have been a member of this group for around a year now and have learnt a lot from the discussion that takes place from the group i had applied for fall 09 CS and have got 2 admits 1) SUNY bufallo 2) San Francisco state University (conditional Admit, they want me to give some ugrad course again). Now i also have been offered a choice from San jose state univ asking me to shift from MS CS to MS SE. Now i really wanted to join SJSU for some obvious reasons and some other not so obvious reasons. So i would like to know if there is anyone who has an idea or a contact at SJSU SE program?? also considering my current admits, what do u all suggest me??

Hello Everyone, I just saw Varadhan wrote to Abhinav and asked him to share his story. It would be nice if more of you did so. It would also be great if you guys can help us with other things. We would like to help you better wiith preparation, admission and maybe even post-admission issues. Of course, everything depends on what you ask us and tell us. If there is something we could be doing better, we are always happy to learn. Remember, this group exists for you, and all of us. I, in particular, do not spend enough time looking at how other groups may be serving you guys better. We are approaching our 10th year and while we are proud of what we assume our role is, in your education process, it would be good to find ways to make this better!
